Please edit for clarity
[edit]There are several sentences which mention the fate of the different aircraft and crew members throughout the article. It think it would help to add a table that gives a more concise overview.
"Of the 16 crews involved, 14 returned to the United States or reached the safety of American forces, though one man was killed while bailing out. Eight men were captured by Japanese forces in eastern China (the other two crew members having drowned in the sea), and three of them were later executed." "One crewman, 20-year-old Corporal Leland D. Faktor, flight engineer/gunner with 1st Lt. Robert M. Gray, was killed during his bailout attempt over China, the only man in that crew to be lost. Two crews (10 men) were missing." "Despite the loss of these 15 aircraft, 69 airmen escaped capture or death, with only three killed in action." "Two of the missing crewmen, bombardier S/Sgt. William J. Dieter and flight engineer Sgt. Donald E. Fitzmaurice of Hallmark's crew, were found to have drowned when their B-25 crashed into the sea." "Out of the 80 crewmen, three died, eight were captured, and three were killed in captivity by the Japanese." Vollprofi (talk) 11:31, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Infobox result parameter
[edit]As per Template:Infobox_military_conflict the result section is optional in the first place, and whilst it states (as pointed out) do not introduce non-standard terms like "decisive", "marginal" or "tactical"
- which hasn't happened here - it also states that where the standard terms do not accurately describe the outcome, a link or note should be made to the section of the article where the result is discussed in detail (such as "See the Aftermath section").
To be honest, that's a bit contradictory, and could be added, because there's a wealth of sourced commentary discussing the immediate results from a psychological frame.
However, it seems more likely that we won't agree on this topic so there are two options - the original can stay in place while the disagreement is worked out, as per WP:BRD, or we remove the parameter and thus all ambiguity, and let readers decide themselves from both "Aftermath" and "effect" section.
I'm good with either, but I'm not good with the proposed change staying in place while it's discussed. Chaheel Riens (talk) 20:20, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Describing the result as a "psychological victory" is without a doubt a non standard term. However if we can agree to simply omit the result, then I'm fine with that. Kolno (talk) 21:11, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
